Becoming Iranian was an exploration of nationalism, culture, and identity in contemporary Iran. From June 2011 through December 2014 I lived and worked in Iran, photographing my way through the country. These photographs, what amount to thousands of self portraits, tell the story of my own Iranian identity and that of the country I discovered.
